newsweeks is a magnainze, when Chemical and Engineering News and Journal of Chemical Ecology are book bound, heavy books.

You see that these materials are different, but the differences are entirely in the content. The bound volumes you found in the periodicals section were bound by the library, not by the journals and the library no longer binds journals because there's no money to do that.
ReplyDeleteThe important differences are those described on the wiki page on periodicals, which I asked you to review as part of your work for this week. Magazines are popular, like newsweek, designed to appeal to everyone and be more casual reading. Trade or professional magazines are, as you point out, geared to the profession. The scholarly journal is full of references, detailed research, and is peer-reviewed.
